Privacy at Joboy

Your career story belongs to you.

Building a career profile can mean sharing personal experiences, ambitions, and concerns. You choose what to add and which career facts to confirm.

This page explains how Joboy handles your information and the choices you have.

What you share

Joboy stores account credentials to let you sign in, along with the career information you save: questionnaire answers, profile summaries, career facts, and review choices. Passwords are stored as hashes. You can optionally save your name, postal address, and phone number, and edit or clear those details in your profile.

This information supports your saved profile and lets you return to your work. Only include personal information you want to use here, and avoid adding unnecessary sensitive information about yourself or other people.

Your privacy choices

Career-direction answers have visibility controls, including private answers excluded from the generated profile and answers marked not for applications. Review these choices as you complete the questionnaire. Personal reflections are separate from confirmed career facts.

You can edit your answers and review your summary, and add, edit, or delete confirmed career facts. You control what you share with employers and approve application materials before using them.

Résumé text and uploaded files

Pasted text can be previewed in your browser before you choose to save it for review. Saving pasted text or importing text from an approved upload requires your consent to temporary storage.

If you upload a résumé, your browser sends the original file directly to private storage used by FiVal, our file validation and text extraction service. FiVal processes the file; Joboy receives upload metadata and can retrieve approved extracted text. Joboy does not store the original file in its web application.

Previewing extracted text does not save a copy to your profile. Choosing to import it creates a separate temporary text copy for review in Joboy.

Retention and deletion

Saved résumé source text expires after 24 hours and is then unavailable for review. Remaining expired text is cleared when the import is opened or by scheduled cleanup. Completing a review or discarding an import clears its source text immediately. Confirmed career facts and review records can remain after source text is cleared.

Deleting an uploaded file and discarding a saved text import are separate actions. Deleting the upload does not erase text already imported into Joboy or confirmed career facts. An upload marked deletion pending is still awaiting remote cleanup; wait for deletion to be confirmed. Upload operation records remain to support recovery and track deletion.

The Nuclear option in Settings → Account lets you download an encrypted copy of your personal career data before permanently closing your account. Closing it immediately deletes your account and its data from our live database. External file cleanup can take longer; we retain only the records needed to finish it. You can cancel linked Stripe subscriptions without a refund or choose to keep them running. We retain the Stripe references for ongoing subscriptions until they end. Stripe may retain its own payment records. Backups, earlier contact messages not linked to your account, and copies outside Joboy are not erased by this action. Copies you have downloaded remain under your control.

AI and your information

With your consent, Joboy uses AI to extract proposed career facts from résumé text and help you prepare application materials. Only the information needed for the task is sent for processing, with your privacy and application-disclosure choices respected. You review proposed facts before they become confirmed profile information and approve generated materials before export.

Saving contact details or importing résumé text does not by itself grant consent for AI processing. Private career information is not used to train shared models without separate, informed opt-in consent.

Cookies, browser storage, and external requests

Joboy uses session cookies for sign-in and security cookies to protect form submissions. Your theme preference is saved in local browser storage. Résumé upload recovery uses session storage for file metadata and progress, without saving file contents or extracted text there. Clearing browser storage can reset preferences and interrupt upload recovery.

When you choose Job Seeker or Employer, Joboy saves that choice in local storage in this browser so you can skip the audience popups on later visits. This preference stays on this browser and device, is not saved to your account or sent to an analytics service, and has no automatic expiry. You can change it using the Job seeker and Employer navigation on public audience pages, or reset it by clearing Joboy’s site data in your browser. On a shared browser, the choice applies to anyone using that browser profile. If browser storage is blocked or cleared, you may see the choices again.

To help you pick up where you left off, Joboy remembers your most recent top-menu or workspace choice and your selected profile, Joboy, and Settings tabs in local storage. A normal sign-in returns you to your remembered menu page; visiting a tabbed page restores its selected tab. Explicit destinations and form feedback take priority. These preferences stay in this browser on this device, are separated by account, and remain after sign-out with no automatic expiry. We do not keep a click history or send these preferences to an analytics service. They contain page and tab identifiers, not your career content or geographic location. Clear Joboy’s site data in your browser to reset them. If storage is blocked or cleared, the usual defaults apply.

Contact, registration, and sign-in forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to help prevent automated abuse. Your browser connects to Cloudflare for a security check, and Joboy sends the resulting token to Cloudflare for verification.

Pages load fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google to request them. Uploading files also connects your browser to FiVal’s storage provider. These requests expose connection information such as your IP address to the receiving service.

Your employer workspace

Employer job drafts are private to your account. Pasted job descriptions require consent, expire after 24 hours, and are cleared when their review is accepted or discarded. Proposed fields stay separate until you accept them. Deleting a job removes its local source and proposals; it does not delete an original FiVal upload or other jobs in the same batch. Employer drafts are included in your personal account download.
