Joboy supports simple Markdown formatting in descriptive listing fields, such as the job summary, responsibilities, and benefits. Plain text works too. Keep dates, URLs, email addresses, identifiers, and other specially formatted fields in the format shown in the upload guide.

Formatting text

To display Write
Bold **Bold**
Italic *Italic*
Inline code `code`
A bullet item - Support customers
A numbered item 1. Submit your application

Start each list item on a new line, with a space after its marker. Bullets may use -, *, +, or the actual • character. A leading • becomes a normal list bullet; it will not produce two bullets. Use flat lists rather than nested lists.

Use new lines to separate prose. Blank lines can make your source easier to read, but extra blank lines do not create extra spacing in the final listing.

New lines in uploaded files

In JSON strings, write \n wherever you want a new line:

{
  "responsibilities": "**Your responsibilities**\n• Support customers\n• Prepare reports"
}

JSONL uses the same \n notation inside strings. Keep each complete listing object on one physical line. A JSON file instead contains an array of listing objects.

In CSV, use actual line breaks inside a quoted cell, rather than typing \n. Spreadsheet applications generally handle CSV quoting when you export. When editing directly in Joboy, press Enter for a new line.

Headings and links

Use the preferred-heading settings rather than adding # headings inside field text. For bulk imports, keep field names unchanged and provide your display headings through section_headings:

"section_headings": {"responsibilities": "What you will do"}

In CSV, put that mapping in the section_headings column as a JSON object; your spreadsheet handles the surrounding CSV quoting.

Listing fields support a limited Markdown subset. Markdown links, embedded images, tables, and HTML are not rendered as those elements. Put application links in the dedicated URL field. Company logos come from the linked Company profile, not from Markdown images.

Preview your listing before publishing to check the final formatting.
